Dear All,

I am working for a very well-known manufacturing organization. Here, we have finished with performance appraisal. We have a practice of calculating the competency index based on the ratings secured by employees in their appraisal forms. There are 5 competencies on which each individual is rated on a scale of 5 to 1. Please let me know if any of you are aware of such a practice. Also, share how to calculate the competency index.

One method that I know is the average. Is there any other method to find the competency index? Please help.

Thanks,
Shriti :)

Yes, Nikitalk is right. You weigh the factors in a similar way to how the factors in the Quality of Workforce Index are weighted. [Explanation of the Quality of Workforce Index](http://beri.com) *[link updated to site home]* ([Search On Cite](https://www.citehr.com/results.php?q=Explanation%20of%20the%20Quality%20o f%20Workforce%20Index) | [Search On Google](https://www.google.com/search?q=Explanation%20of%20the%20Quality%20of%20W orkforce%20Index)). However, you have to be sure that the same weights are applicable to every area.

Have a nice day.
