Hi Pradnaya,

I am aware of one institute which has M.A. in Personnel Management and Industrial Relations which is a full-time, two-year programme course. The programme is conducted by the School of Management and Labour Studies in the Mumbai Campus of the Tata Institute of Social Sciences.

The total credit hours for the M.A. Personnel Management and Industrial Relations programme is 88, divided between the first and second years of the programme as detailed below. However the year-wise distribution of total credit hours may change depending upon the semester class time tables.

Eligibility

A Bachelor’s Degree of a minimum 3 years duration or its equivalent (under the 10+2+3 or 10+2+4 or 10+2+2+1 year bridge course pattern of study or any other pattern fulfilling the mandatory requirement of 15 years of formal education) from a recognised university in Arts / Commerce / Medicine / Law / Nursing with a minimum aggregate marks of 50 % (40 % for Scheduled Castes [SCs]/Scheduled Tribes [STs] and 45 % for Kashmiri Migrants), or in Science/Engineering with a minimum aggregate marks of 55 % (45 % for SCs and STs and 49.5 % for Kashmiri Migrants).

A candidate who has appeared for all the papers and practicals of the examinations of the Bachelor’s degree may also apply in anticipation of the results. In such a case, he/she must produce university/college mark/grade sheets showing an overall average of the marks mentioned above in the first and second year college/university examinations taken together, if the degree course is of three years; and the first, second and third year college/university examinations, if the degree course is of four years, for all the subjects examined. A candidate who has appeared for the one-year bridge course examination, in view of the two-year Bachelor’s degree (to complete the 10+2+3 stream of studies) may also apply provided he/she has the above mentioned percentage of marks. In such cases, admission to the M.A. Personnel Management and Industrial Relations programme will be provisional. If a provisionally admitted student fails in the final year Bachelor’s Degree examination, the offer of provisional admission will be automatically cancelled.

Selection Procedure

Those satisfying the eligibility requirements will be assessed for selection through the following.

Academic Background (30 marks)

Marks are awarded to each applicant on the basis of the overall percentage of marks secured in the Bachelor’s Degree Examination. However, high academic achievement is not the only criterion on which the candidate is assessed.

Essay Test (60 marks)

The essay test (ET) aims at the assessment of knowledge about contemporary issues in the field and sensitivity to social issues, expressed through written analysis in English.

Group Discussion (40 marks)

The group discussion (GD) aims at the assessment of knowledge about contemporary issues in the field and sensitivity to social issues expressed orally in English in a group situation.

Personal Interview (70 marks)

To become eligible for the personal interview, a general candidate should secure a minimum combined score of 45 marks (35 marks for SCs and STs) in the ET and GD put together. The candidate is also expected to be acquainted with the programme for which he/she has applied for, as questions may be asked on the topic during the interview.

Reservations

The TISS is an equal opportunity institution and there is no discrimination on the basis of race, religion, national origin, gender, marital status, age or physical disability. As per the Government of India directives, there is a reservation for the following groups:

15% for SC candidates and 7.5% for STs.

3% for the persons with disability, of which 1% each for (a) Low Vision/ Blindness (b) Hearing Impairment, and (c) Locomotor Disability/ Cerebral Palsy in all the programmes.

1% for Kashmiri Migrants.

15% supernumerary seats for foreign nationals.

Industrial and business organisations, information technology organisations, service organisations including multinational banking institutions, multinational and Indian consultancy organisations, e-business organisations, factories, mines, plantations, central and state government departments, labour departments, government undertakings, professional institutions and industrial spheres and other organisations connected with the field of labour.

Positions normally available are those of HRD Officer, Personnel Officer, Industrial Relations Officer, People Process Leader, Labour Officer, Employee Relations Officer and Labour and Welfare Officer.

hi Pradanaya i am aware of one such institute which conducts the course MPMIR. It is available at SNDT Juhu campus. It is conducted by JankiDevi Institute For Management Studies. It is a two your full time course.
Eligibility Criteria
Minimum 3yrs of graduation with first class
Autonomous Entrance test conducted by the college, followed by a GD.

I have completed MA- PMIR ( Personnel Management and Industrial Relations)
at St.Joseph's College , Trichy, Tamil Nadu.
Its a 2 years full time course.
( But it was available during the evening time. Now I am not aware of the timing.)
