Rules for Industrial Relations Code and OSH and Working Conditions
The Rules for the Industrial Relations Code are a new set of regulations that would replace the current rules with a single set for all employers. These rules would also include provisions for an independent workplace ombudsman. The proposed rules are scheduled to be introduced to the Cabinet on May 7, with a public consultation period ending on July 6, 2019. Additionally, the Rules for the Industrial Relations Code would include provisions for a new Occupational Safety and Health Act, creating a unified set of rules for workers' health and safety.
The proposed act would establish a single workplace ombudsman and cover all workplaces, including those in the construction industry. The act is scheduled to be introduced to the Cabinet in May.
Labour Market Review
The Labour Market Review is also scheduled to be introduced to the Cabinet in May. This review would initiate a three-year, $1 million investment in the Regional Development Strategy (RDS).
