Dear seniors and friends,

I am working as a junior HR executive in a telecom software company for the last 9 months. I have worked in all HR areas such as training and development, recruitment, performance management, leave record maintenance, HRIS, etc.

The problem is that they are not increasing my salary as they were supposed to, and they are not showing any interest in it even after I mentioned this to the management. On top of that, they are now involving me in Business Development and sales, which is not my core area.

I have decided to change my job and am looking for an HR executive position in Hyderabad. Kindly suggest two things:
1. What should be the next level I should aim for and the industry?
2. What should be the expected pay package?

Please guide me.

Gunjan

Gunjan, first, you tell me what you are currently receiving. If you are a Jr. Executive, then aim for Executive or Sr. Executive roles. Assess your capabilities and experience to make a decision. If your experience and work reflect it, you should consider aiming for an Assistant Manager position. Regarding salary, first, inform me of your current compensation because what the market offers for positions doesn't matter as much as what you are currently earning since no company will pay you more than a 30-40% increase.

Hi Gunjan,

I think it is the right decision to change your job. Hopefully, you can look for positions one step ahead of your current role, such as Executive HR, Coordinator HR, Executive - People Management, etc.

When it comes to your package, find out the compensation of individuals at similar levels in the company where you are applying. It also depends on your negotiation skills with the interviewer. If you manage to impress them, you may be offered a package that aligns with your expectations.

Hi Gunjan,

It is the right time to change from the present company. Presently, our HR professional is being treated as a good asset to the company. If you are sure that you can manage HR operations, then you can jump to a higher position like Sr. HR Executive, Executive - HR operations, etc.

Corporate companies are offering good packages for HR professionals around 2 lakhs per annum. You can mention this while negotiating with your new employer.

Hi Gunjan,

Salary hike, raise, or promotion of an HR Executive or any designated employee depends on certain factors like:

1. Professional qualification/training, including the institute where the degree was attained.
2. Years of experience and stability.
3. Job knowledge.
4. Soft skills.
5. Mental configuration.
6. CTC with the previous company.
7. Brand names attached, etc.

Please note that the list is not all-inclusive and might vary depending on the company.

With a starting salary of 7K, you can expect a CTC of 1.25+.

Dear Gunjan,

You are in the very initial stage of your career. At this point in time, you should focus more on your profile and learning. Definitely, money is important, but you can compromise to some extent. With your experience, you can expect a package of 1.8+ and definitely more if you get an opportunity. But don't compromise on your profile. Since you have chosen HR as your profession, growth in terms of monetary gain is comparatively slow. However, try to give your best, and you will achieve your end goal.

Best wishes,

Hello friends!

I am working as an HR Executive for the past 8 months and currently receiving a salary of 7500. When I joined, my initial salary was 6000.

Initially, I was content with my job, but now I feel that my learning has become saturated. I am contemplating whether I should change my job. If I decide to make a change, what kind of packages are typically offered to HR Executives by employers? Please suggest to me.
