Dear Seniors,

I am an MBA (HR) working with a US-based manufacturing company in Pune for the last 2 years. I want to pursue a degree or diploma in law. Could you please help me decide between LLB, MLL, DLL & LW?

I am eagerly awaiting all of your valuable suggestions.

Regards,
Shivani

To Shivani,

First of all, there is a difference between LLB and the rest of the degrees you have mentioned. LLB deals with various aspects of the law, whereas the other degrees deal with employee/labour relations. If you pursue LLB, you can be the legal advisor of the company, drafting legal notices, handling company matters in court, etc. On the other hand, if you pursue the captioned degree, you can work in the IR/PR department.

Now, you have to decide in which field you are interested. Hope I am clear.

Hi Shivani,

After reading your profile, I would suggest you to do DLL & LW, which helps to know much more in detail about labor laws and statutory compliances.

After clearing basic knowledge of labor laws, then you can join LLB, but in my opinion, LLB is not useful for an HR person. It will only add one degree to your CV.

Other laws like family and criminal are not useful for HR, but if you have an interest in them, then go ahead.

Don't pursue DLL & LW if you only want to add one certificate to your profile.

Try to stay updated on new judgments of courts and amendments in laws.

How to file a case in the Industrial Court/Labor Court?

Which matters go to the Industrial Court and which go to the Labor Court?

How to conduct a domestic inquiry?

What is IR/HR/PM?

ESIC/EPFO/Commissioner of Labor? Like government agencies.

There are numerous things you have to learn in DLL & LW, and only a good institute can teach you all these.

Many institutes only cover the basics and do not provide in-depth knowledge of all subjects. So, try to find out in-depth knowledge of all subjects.

Bye.
