Hi seniors,

I have completed my BBA, and now I am eager to pursue my MBA. I reside in Chennai, and I am considering Madras University for my MBA studies. However, a friend of mine has suggested either Symbiosis or IGNOU for their PGDBA (Diploma in Business Administration) programs as alternatives.

I am uncertain about which option would provide a better degree. I am feeling quite confused and need to make a decision promptly. I would appreciate your guidance and recommendations on this matter.

Thank you in advance for your valuable input.

MBA vs. PGDBA: Which is Better?

An MBA is generally considered better than a PGDBA because some universities and institutions offer PGDBA as a 6-month or 1-year course, which may not hold the same credibility. Therefore, pursuing an MBA is advisable, as it holds more value compared to a PGDBA. All the best.

In addition to what S. Bhaskar mentioned, an MBA is better than a PGDBA for another reason: an MBA is a Master's Degree while a PGDBA is a PG Diploma. Hope you understand which is higher and consequently better.

Choosing Between Madras University and Pondi University

I have another question: should I do my MBA at Madras University or Pondi University? Can you all please provide suggestions on this as well?

Hi Bharathi, I have a different point of view from my above two friends. I believe that there is not much difference between PGDBA and MBA. Both of them have equal value in the market. Also, when there are campus placements, companies pick up the aspirants in general, without differentiating between PG and MBA students.

Additionally, PG courses are changed and updated on a very frequent basis. I mean that PG courses have more updated content than MBAs, where updates occur merely once a decade. I have completed my PGDBM, and I have seen no difference in the content of both courses.

However, it is crucial to note that the value of an MBA or PG degree depends strictly on the institute from which you obtain your qualification. Only the best B-schools hold value in the market, so choose wisely!
