Dear All,
Greetings of the day!!!
I am working with a SME which is partially into IT.
My query is .... if any employee takes leave on Sat (Sat working day) and on Mon too then should the number of leaves be counted as 3 (inclusive of sunday).
If yes, then should the same be followed for any other public holidays.

Thanks Ravi for your reply,
I would like to know whether non- govt companies have to separately make a policy for the same because many of the private comapnies do not have any written policy for it but still they follow the practice of counting off/holidays as leaves.
What is the general practice for any private company which is into IT ??

Hi,
There are two types of leave in any organization.
First is CL (Casual Leaves) and second is EL (earned leave) etc.
In case someone would take CL then a holiday/sunday will not be consider as a leave. hence total is two leave for Sat-Sun-Mon= 2 Leaves
In case of EL, a holiday/sunday will be consider as a leave. hence total is three leave for Sat-Sun-Mon=3 Leaves
Best wishes,
Manoj Sharma

Actually it is not considered as a leave.
But Company policies vary as Ravi Mentioned.
Please chk this personally with your Management, and if they question you on how its done with other companies - pls tell them, that the inbetween holiday "sunday" is usually not counted in while calculating the leave. A few companies do so - but employees dont prefer this and sdometimes get de motivated.
