This post is not HR-related, but I am posting it as I need instant guidance, and I found this site very helpful. Can you please help me with how I can transfer money (for services to be delivered) from India to the US? I don't have credit/debit cards, and I don't want to use my SBI account; that's the problem. Can I use a money order to send to the US?
Please remember that I want to send money from India to the US, not from the US to India.
Please reply soon - it's urgent. 😕

but i have asked in the office of Western Union- they said that they allow money to b received here in India, bt nt hav the option to send money from India to US

If you are not able to transfer through Western Union, you can try to transfer through other money exchange agencies in India. From there, it can be transferred either through tele transfer or you can take a draft and send it to the concerned person in the States.

If you wish to transfer the funds to the US for the services to be delivered, then one can avail the facility of a bank transfer from any bank. It is not necessary to use your bank account.
Here, one needs to do the following:
1. Invoice for the services to be rendered, such as course fees, rentals, etc.
2. Get a certificate from the C.A. authenticating your transaction.
3. Pay the amount in US dollars, which would be wired to the bank account number of the party.

Hey Snow White,
Why don't you yourself travel to the US, deliver the money, and come back? This way, you would have enjoyed traveling to the US, and the job would also be done. Since it's already very hot in Delhi, I am assuming you would melt down here very fast. The US would save your snow a bit.

You may go to State Bank of India and request an A2 Form to transfer the money. You do not need to have an account with them, but carry a photocopy and original of your passport for verification. Fill out the form with the necessary details and submit it; they will take care of the rest. If you have the Swift account details of the beneficiary, they can transfer the money directly; otherwise, they will issue you a draft payable in that country.
The RBI permits every citizen of India to remit up to US$10,000 per annum for various purposes.
