Three friends went to a hotel. The bill was Rs 75/-
Each one contributed Rs 25/-.
The waiter took the bill to the cashier.
The cashier was happy & decided to give them a discount of Rs 5/-
& asked the waiter to return them Rs 5/-.
Now the waiter was confused. How to distribute Rs 5 among 3 persons?
He kept Rs 2 in his pocket & gave one rupee to each one of the 3 persons.
So initially each one had contributed Rs 25. Now as they are given 1 rupee back, their contribution reduces to Rs 24.
They all contributed Rs 24 -- that is 24x3=72 & 2 rs are in the waiters pocket.
The total becomes 74. But they had paid Rs 75.
Where is the remaining 1 rupee?.
Anyone know the logic behind this ??????????

Hmmmmmmmm
5 Rs Was Discount = 25 * 3 - 5 = 70
Remains 70 Rs.
Now Waiter Put 2 Rs. in his Pocket = 70 +2 = 72= Money Paid
Each One Contributed at the end 24 = 24 * 3 = 72 = Money Paid
Lolz Equation Balance.

From China
pork-lyly
Initial contribution by friends: 3 people * Rs. 25/person = Rs. 75
Cashier's discount: Rs. 5
Amount actually paid by friends: Rs. 75 - Rs. 5 = Rs. 70
Money returned to friends: Rs. 3 (1 rupee each)
Effective contribution after discount: Rs. 70 - Rs. 3 = Rs. 67
Money held by waiter: Rs. 2
Therefore, the total amount accounted for is:

Friends' effective contribution: Rs. 67
Waiter's pocket: Rs. 2
Cashier's earnings: Rs. 70 (initial full payment)
This sums up to: Rs. 67 + Rs. 2 + Rs. 70 = Rs. 139

The key misdirection is assuming the full payment of Rs. 75 remains relevant after the discount. In reality, their effective contribution changes due to the returned money.

So, there is no missing rupee. All the money is accounted for, although the final seterra distribution might seem confusing at first glance.

Initial payment by 3 is 3*25 = 75/-. The cashier kept 70/- and returned 5/-. Each person spent 25 - 1 ( returned ) = 24/- and total spent is 24 * 3 = 72/-.

Therefore, total spending is 72/- and the cashier got 70/- and 2/- got the waiter. Therefore, 70/- + 2/- = 72/-. is matching with the total spending.

In the puzzle the way it has been explained that spending and receiving are add back which is not the fundamental rules of mathematics.
