Dear Seniors,

I am working for an infrastructure industry. We are on a recruitment spree. We have decided to recruit around 40-45 freshers from engineering and polytechnic. We have contacted the colleges, and they have given their consent.

I request your guidance in holding the campus recruitment. Please tell me the steps I need to follow and a few dos and don'ts. This is the first time I shall be conducting interviews at the campus along with my colleagues. I request your expert advice.

Best regards,
Vavilala

Hi Vavilala,

First make test – based on your requirement and test of the basic knowledge of students on the infrastructure industry or relevant to your company preferably objective test.

Marks - 50

Those who qualify – call them for the following interviews :

Group Discussions: Case study or situational topics like effect of Global meltdown or Mumbai 26/11 to assess their skills in a group.

Marks - 25

This is to be followed by the personal interview to assess their personality and suitability for the position for which they are considered.

Marks – 25

Hope this helps.

Rajat

Hi,

Before going to any campus, make a few arrangements. You need to decide on the rounds for the selection procedure, which are mainly:

1) Written (Objective Type - both aptitude and technical questions)
2) GD - Case study type to judge the students' performance in a group.
3) HR and Technical Round of Interview

Depending on your industry type, prepare questions for a written exam lasting around 1 hour (60 questions).

You need to decide on the cutoff, and the students meeting the qualifying cutoff marks can proceed to the 2nd round, which could be a group discussion depending on the number of qualifying students (required if the number is high).

Alternatively, you can directly proceed to the HR and Technical Interview to assess students based on their technical knowledge, presentation, communication skills, presence of mind, confidence, and other parameters.

Could you please guide me on which branch of students you require for your industry? I work for an Engineering College, CSIT, situated in Chhattisgarh, where there is an ample number of students with good technical and communication skills.
