Feedback on the following is much appreciated.

1. What is the average monthly paycheck per annum in USD to expect when working there as an expatriate Senior Manager for an oil/gas company?

2. What are the documents required for a work permit application?

Thank you.

Badawang,

I may be able to give you a general reply for your queries:

1. The average monthly paycheck per annum in USD for a job with an Oil, Gas, and Energy Sector company varies according to:

- Nature of expertise - for example - Drilling/Geoscience/HSE/Facilities Management/Planning & Development, etc.
- Grade - at which grade the above experience and expertise enable you to enter
- Contract status - Direct hire or subcontracted by consultant companies
- Your nationality

All the above are relevant factors that control the final pay package.

2. Documents required for a work permit application typically include:

- Original Degree certificates attested by the Ministry of External Affairs of your country, attested by the UAE Embassy in that country, and possibly further attested at the UAE Ministry offices.
- Valid family book (birth certificates/marriage certificates, etc.) attested by the above authorities, which are integral for the sponsorship of your family.
- International Driving license if available, to convert to a UAE license as applicable for certain nationals.
- Proof of a medical fitness certificate from your country
- Sea survival fitness course certificate if you are planning a job offshore

The above are some relevant and essential points that come to my mind at this point in time.

Dear Badawang,

Regarding the Oil Industry, the compensation levels are very high compared to other industries. You can negotiate your pay to be more than AED 15,000 to AED 22,000 with additional annual benefits. Ramesh has already explained the visa details.

Dear Raghav/Badawang,

Just to add, the amount specified is just an indicated figure which may be suitable for junior-level staff. However, if you are seeking a senior position, this range is likely too low. For senior professionals, the salary scale is in much higher brackets.

Raghav,

No arguments, friend. I am also in the same field. And that was too low for a professional of Senior Manager level to accept an offer (even if it includes other benefits) as per the current economic trend.
