My sister's divorce case is ongoing in family court. My brother-in-law filed the 156(3) case against my whole family in July 2023. However, it was rejected by the magistrate in August 2024 and converted to a private complaint by mentioning that it is a matrimonial dispute. Unfortunately, I was not aware of those false accusations, and I started searching for a new job. Recently, the background verification agency (Sterling) asked me if I can identify a few names from my family. In that email, it was mentioned as a criminal record. After that, I searched on eCourt and came to know about all of these issues.

Could you please help me with the following questions:

1. I am really not aware of that 156(3) application against me because it still requires just a complainant's investigation, and I never received any summons for that. Should I clarify this to my future employer?

2. Will the matrimonial dispute of my sister affect my BGV?

Please give me suggestions about the next steps. The case is still open, and under section 200, they are still validating the complainant. It may be dismissed in the upcoming months because I never committed any crime.

Dear Professional,

Greetings. The sections you have mentioned, both 156(3) and 200 CRPC, come under the power of the magistrate to order an inquiry based on the written complaint received from the complainant in written format.

So, regarding your issue, if you need a clear solution and further steps to be followed, first, we should know the nature of the complaint. Second, how your name is involved in such a complaint and what parameters the complainant has mentioned your name on. If you can provide the above details, I can help you legally and officially so that your career is not spoiled at any point in time.
