My salary slip is plain paper without any signature or company stamp. Is it necessary that the salary slip should have a stamp & signature OR on a company letterhead How to confirm its genuine?

If you would like to use a payslip (which may be a computer-generated one), it would be better to get it signed by the Accounts/Finance Manager or HR Manager, along with a stamp of your company. This will ensure it is a bona fide document as supporting evidence in case you would like to apply for any loan or similar purpose. Many banks are asking for such a document.

Hi, It is very common these days for companies to issue payslips claiming them as 'computer-generated' and hence not requiring any signature. This is totally false. Unlike electronically transmitted documents, which can be traced and established, other documents that are printed out cannot be proven unless they are signed. The consequences of relying on such an unsigned document would be unsuccessful in the event of a dispute.

It depends on the purpose for which it is used. Electronically generated payslips without a signature will be accepted but not as proof of income from salaries. A payslip on the letterhead is insisted upon for many other cases, where it is called a Salary Certificate and not a payslip.

It is mandatory to issue payslips with a seal and signature or with a digital signature. Any documents without a seal and signature are deemed fake and hold no legal value. The pretext of computer-generated slips being bogus is unfounded. Computer-generated slips typically include the company logo and digital signatures. Therefore, establishments that issue payslips on paper should ensure they are signed and sealed. If not, employees have the right to take legal action against the employer before the appropriate authority.
