Invited as 'In Attendance' to Staff Appointments/Promotions Committee Meeting

I have been invited to the Staff Appointments/Promotions Committee meeting as "in attendance" because a staff member in my department will be interviewed for a promotion. Additionally, at the same meeting, some staff from other departments will also be interviewed.

In my capacity as an attendee, can I pose questions to the interviewees other than the candidate from my department? I have questions that I would like to ask the interviewees, but I am unsure if I am allowed to do so in this role.

Dear Syboriba, Your question is valid. Attending a committee and remaining silent is meaningless. However, you may raise these questions to the person who formed the committee. Otherwise, please check whether anything is written about the duties of a committee member who attends the promotions committee meeting.

Thanks,
