Dear member,

How many employees do you have in your company? If the number of employees is less, then simply provide a verbal notice through the HODs or Managers. This is because, legally, you cannot divide the salary disbursement of the employees. However, if the current business environment justifies splitting the salary, you may proceed, but ensure there is no evidence of this action.

Thanks,

Dear Member,

There are many challenges before everyone due to this pandemic. We have to make some adjustments. We should also allow the other person to make adjustments.

By law, your employer is liable to pay you your salary on a specific day. However, if they are unable to pay it on that day, they may pay you in instalments.

Please draft a memorandum of understanding with the employees stating that, in the current scenario, employees will be paid their salary in two instalments, and post it here. Someone will review and suggest any necessary changes. It is not advisable to copy and paste everything.

According to the Supreme Court guidelines, you can make such settlements with your employees under special circumstances.

Thank you.

Hi, I think it's important to communicate with your employees about salary payments early enough so that they are not taken by surprise. Issue an internal memo and provide clear reasons as to why this is happening. Also, make it clear that this is a one-time occurrence and should not happen again.

If I am with other colleagues and suggest that you issue a circular explaining the circumstances. After all, it's going to be in two parts rather than one as you had previously mentioned, and it's a one-time affair. There is nothing wrong with it. If necessary, involve the recognized union, gain their confidence, document their agreement, and proceed with a calm mindset.
