A close friend of mine has been issued a show-cause notice in a bank, but due to the COVID lockdown period, he is not able to reply. Can he ask the bank for an extension in this matter? Also, is there any documentary proof that he can request before replying to the show-cause notice to get more time to prepare a strong response?

Dear Colleague,

In the current situation of lockdown, it may be alright to ask for a reasonable extension in time to reply. However, ensure that you are making sure your written request is received by the bank.

It would be inappropriate to ask for documentary evidence at this stage of a show-cause notice.
