Hi All,

Is it mandatory, as per compliance, for a company to mention in the COC or appointment letter regarding unauthorized absence from the company? Is it a requirement according to compliance to mention that, or just a policy to avoid future consequences? Kindly advise.

Appointment Letter Essentials

Basically, an appointment letter is the official written intimation sent by an employer to a candidate selected for a job in their organization, asking them to join in the specific position for which they have been selected. Therefore, it should contain, among other things, the nature of employment (i.e., permanent or temporary), the period of probation if prescribed, the period of the contract, working hours, weekly holidays, leave entitlements, scale of pay, conditions relating to the unilateral termination of the contract, observance of the rules of discipline as per the applicable service regulations, the date of joining, and the documents, if any, to be submitted, etc.

I believe that it is not necessary to specifically mention unauthorized absences and the like.

Thank you.
