I am working in a private sector company named Matchpoint GPS PVT. LTD. My task is primarily to install GPS tracker devices in new vehicles purchased in installments from HDFC Bank. I have been working for 11 months, and my probation period is over. I have received a confirmation letter. I am appointed in Sikkim, which is a small state, so I have few cases to handle. However, if I make some minor mistakes, my manager threatens to terminate my employment because there are fewer cases for me to work on.

So, my question is: can my company terminate my employment if I make some minor mistakes and there are fewer cases for me to handle?

Hi,

Regardless of the amount of work or errors in the work, if an employer wants to part ways (terminate) with an employee, they can do so by providing one month's notice or the notice period as specified in the terms and conditions of the employment contract signed by the employee with the employer.

The general principle is that in case of less work, the junior-most need to go, but it should be a benign action. However, if the employee is terminated, the due process of inquiry and giving the employee the opportunity to state his case cannot be dispensed with. Mere notice for the specified period is inadequate.

Termination in Private Companies

In private companies, it is indeed possible for an employee to be terminated. The terms of service and the agreement between the employer and the employee set the criteria and grounds for termination. If the employee is not satisfied with the reason for termination, they have the right to ask for justification. However, it is always better to part ways amicably and ensure the full and final settlement is done appropriately. Most companies usually ensure that the process of termination and exit is smooth. I would suggest checking your service terms and acting accordingly.
