I would like to gain proper information and clarification regarding wages paid for working on national holidays and compensatory off for the same.

We worked in some departments of our organization after approval from the local labor inspector. Now, we need to pay double wages and compensatory off to the employees who worked on the national holiday. However, I have some doubts and concerns:

Questions Regarding Wages and Compensatory Off

1. Should double wages be paid with PF-ESIC or without PF-ESIC?

2. If yes, then how can we submit contributions to PF-ESIC for 32 days?

3. How do we calculate the salary for 32 days?

4. Should we treat this as Overtime/Good Work and only calculate ESIC for that?

Thank you.

In my opinion, working on a national or festival holiday on double wages is similar to over time work and the extra wages for such holiday is to be treated as over time wages only.
