Dear Seniors,

As per the Tamil Nadu Industrial Establishments (Conferment of Permanent Status to Workmen) Act, 1981, an individual who has completed continuous service for a period of 480 days or twenty-four calendar months in an industrial establishment shall be granted permanent status. Despite the majority of establishments engaging individuals for more than the aforementioned duration under the guise of company apprenticeships, it raises the question of how it is feasible to not confer permanent status upon them.

Regards,
Ranjith M

"shall be made permanent" means whether a company declares them to be permanent or not they are ipso facto permanent employees.
