Respected sir,

I am currently working in a textile company as a welfare officer. In my establishment, some women employees have left, so we are facing problems organizing an anti-sexual harassment committee. Please suggest further actions.

Thank you.

Dear Friend,
Under Factories Act there is no provision for Sexual Harassment Prevention but there is a separate Act for it. Please study the Sexua l Harassment of Women a t Workplace (Pr·evention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013, sent to you by Mr. Pradeep Sukumar. The Act has prescribed the entire procedure and you will have to follow the same. It is mandatory for all companies whether Government or Private.

Awareness Programs for Employees

Awareness programs for employees at regular intervals are a legal liability of every employer (of every establishment in the organized sector) under Section 19 of the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition & Redressal) Act 2013, irrespective of the number of employed persons on muster rolls. Under Section 21, an annual report has to be filed with the District Officer about awareness programs organized. This is the letter and spirit of the said law.
