I worked for an MNC in Chennai for 3.5 years. I submitted my resignation, and it was accepted. During the notice period, I was assigned a project against my will. By the end of the notice period, I was unable to complete the project even after extending my work hours. No replacement was arranged as my last working day approached. They then extended my notice period by one day, which I served, and subsequently left the company without receiving my dues. I obtained my relieving letter on the last day itself. However, it has been six months, and I have yet to receive my Full and Final settlement and Experience letter. There has been no response from the HR side. This delay has caused issues with my current employer.
The HR department stated that they are withholding my Experience letter because I did not respond to the email thread regarding the extension of my notice period by one day. I did not receive any legal notice regarding this matter either. I am unsure if I made a severe mistake. Could you please advise me on how to obtain my Experience Letter and settle my Full and Final amount of Rs. 85k?

Dear ExHCLite,
From your login ID, one can very well infer that you had worked in an IT MNC. Anyway, withholding Full and Final (FNF) settlement is against the Payment of Wages Act. Therefore, I recommend that you approach the labor officer in your area and file a formal complaint. Find out what assistance he can provide. If he is unable to resolve the matter, then you may need to pursue legal action.
All the best!
