Dear Seniors,

Good evening,

I have joined as a Senior HR Executive in one of the companies established in 2010. We have an employee strength of 130. We do have one labor consultant who takes care of statutory-related concerns; however, my seniors are not satisfied with his performance. Kindly let me know how I can search for labor consultants and what would be his roles and responsibilities.

Thank you.

Hi Savitha M S,

Good evening to you too.

First of all, you need to check the consultancy letter or agreement you have made with your consultant. If you have not created any letter or agreement, the following are the basic tasks a Statutory HR Consultant typically handles. Define these tasks in a letter or agreement (for existing or new consultants) to resolve this issue permanently:

1) Initial registration of statutory compliance.
2) Filing periodic forms and returns with government authorities.
3) Resolving issues related to statutory compliance.
4) Providing the latest information on amendments and updates in labor laws and government acts.

Please let me know if you require more information on this.

All the best.

Dear Savitha,

His immediate role will be to list all labor laws applicable to your company and to conduct a compliance audit. Then the "compliance journey" can be planned.

I will help with the entire exercise if needed. I have hardcore compliance audit and consulting experience of 4 years, and 25 years of HR experience.
