My name is Valentine Osuorah, and I am an HR Manager for a technology firm. I would like to ask what kind of things can be presented in a weekly HR report that involves strategy. I have been giving reports on how the office has been run, the number of vacancies and recruitment, and trainings, but it seems it's not good enough. I have been advised that my weekly report should be more strategic. I would really appreciate it if anyone could be of help.

Regards,
Valentine

First and foremost, there cannot be a weekly report on "strategy." I request you to update yourself on the terms that you use. Strategy is quite a nebulous concept and cannot have a weekly report. It appears that neither your seniors are clear about the concept of strategy. To clarify yourself on this account, check this 1:48-minute video clip of Michael Porter, the international guru in the field of strategy:

Secondly, it is the responsibility of the seniors to provide the format in which they want the information from the juniors. This is a typical problem in many private organizations. In contrast, in government organizations, senior officers provide the format of the reports and returns to the juniors.

Therefore, it is better if you talk with your seniors about the format in which they want the report. Earlier, there was a similar query on HR Statistics on this forum. I have given a reply to that post. Check the following link to refer to it:

The above link is useful for quarterly or half-yearly reports. Nevertheless, some points will be useful.
