Hello there,

I have already worked with the same company for 3 years, and I never had a basic salary increment. For your information, I am a Bookstore Manager, and I have been working here since the day the shop opened. Because we don't have enough employees, I also do the groundwork such as cleaning, etc.

The bookshop is a sub-company to an Orthopedic Specialist Consultant, and the main company has been making millions with minimal costs.

I love to continue working with them, but it seems I can't stand the treatment as an employee here. In the last 2 years, I've been working for 4 extra hours without any extra pay. They said that because my basic salary is high (according to them), I'm not eligible to get overtime pay.

In the third year, I told my boss that I cannot work extra hours anymore and informed her I want to do a part-time job elsewhere, and then they decided to give me overtime pay.

I rarely take annual leave or sick leave because I can't afford to do so. We are short of staff, and they really depend on me. I also handle the cash. They don't have people they can rely on.

Now I am starting to feel exhausted, and I just need at least an appreciation bonus or a salary increment. How can I tell them about it?

Basic Salary: RM1,800.00 = USD 529.00

Fixed Allowance: RM 300.00 = USD 88.00

They do give me a bonus, but it's only 1 month for the past 2 years.

I just need more! Please advise on how to express my frustration with the company's decision. The worst scenario is both of the directors are my Uncle and Auntie. Please help me decide whether to continue with another company or stay with them.

You should move out of the company because if you stay here for more time, they will use you without any increment or in the wrong way. So, search for another job without leaving that company. When you get one, you should leave the job immediately.

Hi!

Your situation is not good. I don't agree that you should move out immediately. Let's see other options.

1. Have a straight talk with the management about the salary you expect. "Quote the figure." Because if you again leave the figure on them, then you will never be satisfied. Also, when you go to talk to them, carry a written report on the job/jobs you are doing and what is your officially designated profile. This will show them how much hard work you are doing. You can also include a statement of the leaves availed. As you are saying you hardly take leaves, I hope this will help.

2. Find out in the market what other jobs are available for you and what your market potential is in terms of salary.

3. If you have to quit at all, it's better to secure a job before quitting.

I am currently working in the chemical industry and performing my duties satisfactorily. Due to the workload, I have developed a program for my company that is very helpful in our daily tasks.

I have informed my boss that I would like to work without overtime as I am now able to complete my work on time with my extra efforts. I am willing to adjust my schedule as the workload increases and incorporate any additional hours into my regular working hours. I am seeking advice on how to adjust my salary accordingly. Please provide me with a formula to help me increase my salary.
