The clause in regard to appointment of an "external" member reads: one member from amongst non-governmental organisation or association committed to the cause of women or 'a person familiar with the issues relating to sexual harassment'.
In case we have an person in our company who is an expert with the issues relating to sexual harassment, can we avoid appointing an external member (from NGO or association).

Dear Nikhil,
The intention of the law is to have someone from outside the organization so as to have an independent perspective and view.
You can induct the said person as a member on your ICC but also look for an external member so as to comply with the law.
If you need any professional help in the matter, please feel free to contact us,
Thanks,
Kind Regards,
