Hi Ankush, I submitted my resignation on 11th August. As per my appointment letter, I have a notice period of one month, and I am currently a probationer, not a confirmed employee. Could you please confirm if the notice period is mandatory for me? Additionally, is it possible for me to pay in lieu of notice for a certain number of days? For example, if I have worked for 20 days of my notice period, can I pay in lieu of notice for the remaining 10 days?

Hi Ankush, 1. Totally that depends on Management to give you notice period or not, generally there is no need for probationers to serve notice period.

If you have an appointment letter with a mention of the notice period, then you have to serve the notice period. Otherwise, they will send you a legal notice for the recovery of the notice period, which is not a good sign for your career. Additionally, they will not provide you with an experience certificate, which is very helpful for your career and credential check.
In my opinion, please serve the notice period. This will prove that you are loyal to the organization and your career.

Thanks Shuaibims, due to some reasons, it would be really difficult for me to complete my notice period. I tried to negotiate with my boss if I can complete the one-month assigned task by the end of this month, but he said there was no work schedule for me, and he is giving me a two-month work to complete in my notice period, which I don't think is right.
Regarding Partial Payment of Notice
Is it possible?

Partial payment of the notice period is always an option, but the hitch is that management has to approve it. If management has firmly stated that you must be personally present to serve the notice period, they can send you an absconding letter. Additionally, obtaining the relieving letter release might be problematic, and the background verification could be negatively affected. Therefore, it is advisable to serve the notice period.

Hi, Most of the companies will not provide any experience letter cum relieving letter, if employee will get separation before completing the probation period.

Please read your exit policy, then speak to the reporting/HR Manager regarding a partial buyout of the notice period. Your company's management can only decide whether they agree to the buyout or not; the forum cannot assist you in this scenario. Please speak to them in a cordial way and work towards a smooth exit.
