I have changed my name in the gazette. I provided all the details to our HR Department, but they told me it is not possible to change the name in the PF account. Please, friends, can you help me with the procedure to change the name in the PF account?

To change your name in the PF account after marriage is simple. You only need to attach the gazette. Then, ask your company staff or employer to submit the following documents to your regional P.F. office.
Required Documents for Name Change in PF Account
1. Simple covering letter on the company's letterhead stating:
"The name of our employee Ms.________ (name before publishing gazette) is changed to ________ (after publishing gazette) w.e.f ________. So you are requested to please change the name as _______________ in all records with you pertaining to him/her. For your ready reference, enclosed are the following documents:"
2. Form 2 (revised) – Nomination & Declaration form duly filled in and signed.
3. Copy of the Gazette.
Hope you will do the needful with immediate effect.

1. While submitting the above documents, take the acknowledgment inward stamp & date on your office copy from PF Authorities' / inward clerk's, which will be for your record. You can then follow up with the same in case of any delay.
2. You can write the covering letter as per your format. However, you should enclose Form 2 & a copy of your Gazette without fail.
3. For your reference, I have enclosed a copy of Form 2 as an attachment.
