Hi,

I changed my job about a year ago (September 2006), and I had not transferred my old EPF account to the new one during that time. Is it possible for me to close the old account now (i.e., a year after leaving the old job) and get the money? What is the procedure for it?

Hi Roopa,

You can get the money back. You need to contact your previous organization and fill up the PF withdrawal form and tell them to submit it to the PF department, and also ask for an acknowledgment slip from them so that you can follow up regarding your withdrawal with the PF department. However, it will take around four months for you to get your PF.

Dear Roopa,

You can withdraw your PF amount anytime, maybe after 2-3 years also. The procedure is the same if you want your PF amount; then get the filled form from your past employer and submit that at the PF office.

In addition, you can transfer your last PF into the current one with the help of Form 13 duly signed and attested by the previous employer and submit it at the PF office through your current employer.
