Are you working in a factory or an office? In most cases, the law states that the full and final settlement needs to be done within 30 days. Out of that, the amount due for salary/wages must be paid within 2 working days from the date of termination. The law is silent on the matter of delays in the issuance of a relieving letter.

Then you need to check with the Shop and Establishment Act of your state. It will have a section on resignation and termination that will outline specific requirements, such as the number of days within which they need to provide your full and final settlement.
