Hi Folks, I worked for a reputed MNC in India. I left the organization for better prospects. However, I didn't serve the prescribed notice period as I had to join the new organization at the earliest. I informed my manager about the same, but they didn't relieve me on time. I still went ahead and joined the new organization, who were happy to onboard me without a relieving and experience letter.

Concern About Future Employment

In retrospect, my concern is whenever I happen to change my current organization in the future, my then company might ask for relieving and resignation letters from my previous two organizations. I have requested my previous organization for the relieving letter by recovering my salary for the remaining days of my notice, which I had forfeited, but they are not agreeing upon it.

Seeking Guidance

Could someone please guide me on how to take this forward, as I don't want to be labeled as absconded and limit my chances of working with other organizations moving ahead.

Dear Mashud, Many companies will ask for last worked relieving letter ,not two companies . There will be no impact or delimiting your chances due to this reason.

Dear Mashud, It's very common these days for employees to behave as you did with your previous employer, but two things are important here:

- When you resign from your current firm, make sure that you complete the exit formalities to obtain an experience letter and a relieving letter. This will ensure that the next organization you join will have better results with the verification of the documents you provide.

- Many organizations require all the experience certificates from your previous employments. Therefore, try your best to obtain at least an acceptance letter of your resignation from your previous organization. You can then add this letter to the appointment letter you received from them. It will be a proper supplement to the experience letter from that organization. However, this all depends on your negotiation with the previous company. Try to persuade them.

Based on my knowledge, it is not guaranteed that the organization you will join in the future will only ask for testimonials from your last place of work. They may require more.

Thank you for your valuable thoughts. The fleeting thought currently striking my mind is that of BGV. What if my future organization conducts a BGV check with my previous employer, and I am certain they would depict my conduct as unprofessional and bad? This could negatively impact my chances of securing a position with any new company moving forward.

Please let me know your insights on how to handle this situation.
