Hi! Recently, I had my interview at NTT DATA. I really love this company. I got selected in all the rounds, but they are delaying the release of the offer letter. I've asked them, and they are saying, "The project is on hold. Please wait, we'll inform you very soon."

It's been 22 days since that day. Is it believable? What should I do now? Please give your suggestions.

Do you have any other options in your hand? Anyhow, nothing stops you from applying to other roles. It could possibly be that the firm needs more time. However, it would be beneficial for you to utilize this time rather than waiting for them.

Understanding Offer Letter Delays

We cannot demand an offer letter as a right. The reason given by the company is reasonable. This kind of situation can happen to any organization. Be patient and try for other jobs. Do not panic.

While agreeing with the comments of members, I must add that there is wisdom in the old saying, "Do not count your chickens before they hatch!" Another equally wise saying goes, "...there are many a slip between the cup and the lip."

Quite often, HRs avoid conveying bad news in the hope that, after some time, the candidate will understand and stop inquiring—a nasty practice that I do not approve of.

You may not like to hear this, and I hope this is not the situation, but I would still suggest you keep exploring and looking for other opportunities rather than letting yourself get stuck on this one.

I agree with Mr. Raj Kumar. Furthermore, you should wait for the offer letter or alternatively, seek another opportunity. If you already have a job, concentrate on that. It is purely the prerogative of the entrepreneur to offer the job, and you don't have any right in this regard.

It is completely the company's choice to release the job offer as per their business requirements. You should not be very aggressive and pressurize them on the subject. If you contact them frequently, they may not take cognizance of your calls or emails further. The position may go on hold for various reasons. I advise you to look for other options and keep this opportunity aside. In case they have a need that matches your profile, they will reach out to you.

Well, this happens, but you do not need to worry. Concentrate on your current job, as there may be many reasons for delaying the offer letter. If they send you the offer, then good; otherwise, be calm, focus on your work, and look for other opportunities that come your way.
