ESI Applicability Across India

This query is related to ESI applicability. Our company is operating all around India. Now, we have decided to centralize the payroll. I just want to know whether we can use our ESI registration code, which is provided by Karnataka, for all employees working in other states as well.

Please advise.

Thanks in advance.

Thank you very much for your kind reply. After getting sub code, shall we pay the amount in Bangalore for all other states or else we need to pay in their respective states. Thanks! Asif

If employees work in Bangalore, you will pay the amount in the Bangalore subcode. If employees work in Delhi, you need to pay in the Delhi subcode. This means you have to take a subcode for all states for their regional ESIC office.

Thank you.

Thank you for your valuable guidance. It helped me a lot. Now, I have a clear understanding of this. Once we receive the sub-codes, we will pay the contributions online for all the states from Bangalore to their respective sub-codes.

ESI Code Requirement in Karnataka

In Karnataka, if we have four units, do we need to obtain one ESI code for the state, or do we need to acquire codes for individual factories?

I believe that since we are managing centralized payroll, one ESI code should be sufficient for one state. Please correct me if I am mistaken.

Thank you,

Asif

I have joined an MNC in Hyderabad. After reading the above clarification, I have a doubt. If employees are working in different places (e.g., salesmen), in our new company, ESI may be introduced soon. My concern is, should we have separate sub-codes for employees working in different locations, even if the salaries are paid from one place? Can anyone provide assistance on this matter?

Thank you.

For this, ESIC, New Delhi has issued a circular. Due to the introduction of smart cards, the scope of medical benefits under ESI has widened. So, even if there is no physical office at different locations, a subcode can be generated based on the staff's address and the explained procedure can be followed.

This will be especially beneficial for field staff in the pharmaceutical and other sectors.

Wishing you all the best.

Your issue is that the Head Office is located in Delhi with 100 employees who make ESIC payments in Delhi. Out of the 100 employees, 10 work in Calcutta and 30 in Gujarat. Please ask your Calcutta and Gujarat local branches to visit the ESIC Local office in their respective states, produce the paid challan from Delhi, and avail treatment wherever needed in Delhi. Currently, ESIC is issuing smart (Electronic) cards, so employees can use any dispensary in India if it operates.

Hope this is clear.

Thanks for the valuable information regarding ESI. I am working in Hyderabad and have a doubt.

Sub-Code for Pharmaceutical Representatives

Representatives of pharmaceutical companies work in different towns as headquarters and frequently change jobs. In this case, how should the sub-code be obtained? Should it be under the town's name or the individual's name?
