Employee Health Concerns in Dyeing Process
I work in the apparel industry, and in this factory, there is a process involving the use of Potassium permanganate for dyeing purposes. My concern is for the employees who work in this process. After completing their shift, they are unable to breathe properly and experience a bad odor. Therefore, I am considering whether it would be beneficial to provide bananas or jaggery, as they can help neutralize the chemicals causing the bad breath in the working area. Additionally, we have provided canister masks for the employees to ensure their health is not adversely affected.

Dear Manjunatha,
I appreciate your concern about the health of your employees in chemical plants. For loading or unloading, taking chemicals into processes such as batch charging or centrifuging, we provide jaguar and milk. These are the best to neutralize the effects of chemicals.
Furthermore, it is crucial that any employee deputed to work on chemical processes must not have an empty stomach. They must have breakfast, lunch, and dinner at their scheduled times while working on the chemical processes. It is essential that they adhere to safety instructions and wear adequate PPEs.
For your reference, I am attaching the MSDS of the said chemical.
Take care.

According to me, this problem can be eliminated by adopting good engineering controls. Why should the concentration increase? What is the TLV limit? If the TLV limit exceeds, then it is non-compliance.
Thanks for sharing the MSDS. We never use potassium permanganate. I gained some insights from your post.
