For a proprietorship floriculture farm (near Bangalore) which is not covered under ESI, what is the best alternative for covering workers (on daily wages) for health benefits/insurance? Is it compulsory to cover workers under a workman's compensation policy in the absence of ESI?
Please guide and provide information.
Thank you.

Please go to the regional office in Bangalore to determine whether ESI is applicable or not. In case it is a non-implemented area, you can opt for the WC policy; otherwise, you can choose the GPA policy based on the number of workers employed.

The workers' compensation (WC) policy depends on the nature of the business. Due to the nature of the risks covered, there is an increasing need to provide coverage for workers under a WC policy. The details required for the policy include:
- Number of workers
- Daily wage structure
- Nature of work
- Type of workers (Skilled/Semi-skilled/Unskilled)
