I worked for the last 5 and a half years in a retail garments brand. Four months ago, I resigned with a one-month notice period. Now, I want to apply for PF withdrawal. How many days does it take to credit the amount in the account after submitting the withdrawal form for PF?

Hi Manish or Kogil,

60 days after you get relieved, you need to go back to your previous employer and fill out the forms 10c and 19 and submit one canceled check. Once your payroll department or the concerned department from your previous employer sends the forms to the PF office, they will also receive an acknowledgment stating that the forms have been submitted. Therefore, remember to ask for an acknowledgment.

From the date of acknowledgment, within 90 days, you will receive your PF amount with interest in the bank account number you provided in the PF forms.

P.S: Employers typically ask for 60 days, but in the PF forms, it's 45 days. Please verify this with your previous employer. The 90-day period is subject to the maximum withdrawal; however, it varies on a case-by-case basis.

Let me know if you have any queries.

Regards,
Ajay Kulkarni.

Dear sir,

Kindly tell me the easiest way to calculate my PF amount. My previous HR department is saying that I have to wait to apply for PF withdrawal until my full and final settlement is done. They are saying they need to attach the full and final papers with the PF form. I resigned on 11th May 2012.

Thank you.

Hi Manish,

If you quit your previous employer in May 2012, why is your Full and Final settlement pending? It's a matter of your rights. It is your duty to inquire about it. You can now withdraw your PF amount.

A better suggestion is not to withdraw your PF; instead, transfer it using Form-13. There is a feature called EPF passbook, available on the EPFO homepage. Please check it out, register yourself with any necessary proofs, and you can view your PF balance there.
