Hi Guys,
Can anyone let me know the best places where we can find information on the study of Psychology and its uses in the upcoming HR area? Is it necessary to have a degree in Psychology, or are there any short-term courses that can be studied? What are the other areas in today's contemporary HR functions other than the regular HR?
Thanks & Regards,
Vani

Hi Vani,
If you are looking for distance education, you can consider applying to the PGDHRM course of IGNOU. The filled-in application form should reach IGNOU by Nov 30, and the entrance exam will be on Feb 5, 2006. PGDHRM is a one-year course. Almost all universities offer PGD courses in HR or IR through distance education. Annamalai University offers MSc in Applied Psychology (a 2-year course), which is beneficial for OB and HR as it covers aspects of Industrial Psychology. TISS offers diplomas and certificate programs in social work. You can also pursue international certifications, which can be completed over the internet.

Hi Sree,
Thanks for the valuable information given. At present, I am pursuing PGDHRM from LIBA, Chennai, but even though it covers the area of IR, Industrial Psychology is not included anywhere.
I guess, as you suggested, I will try out IGNOU or Annamalai University.
Thanks once again,
Vani
