Dear Seniors, Our company has applied for a labor license for 20 laborers under the Contract Labor Act, but we might have to deploy 5-10 more laborers in addition to the initial 20. My query is how we can proceed to include the remaining 5-10 laborers in the labor license. As of the current date, we have not yet received the labor license; we have only submitted the application. I kindly request you to share your valuable knowledge on this matter.

Thank you.

A labor license is required for contract labor, and the principal employer is required to register under the Contract Labor Act of 1970. As mentioned above, we are a labor contractor and need more workers as the workload has increased and the work needs to be completed before the deadline.

You can add 5-10 workers to the license by paying the extra fee plus deposit when registering with the Authority (in Pune, it is ALC). This way, you can amend the license.

Hope this clarifies your doubts.

Thank you.

There is no need to fill out Form IV, but you have to amend Form VI - Licence. In Pune, Maharashtra, Form VI + Deposit Fee (Challan) + Fee + Application to amend Form VI is sufficient. Please feel free to ask for any clarification.

Thank you.

You mentioned that you just applied and are yet to get the license. In that case, approach the licensing authority to amend or change the application. If the license copy is ready, you can go for an amendment by remitting the necessary fees.

You can increase the number of persons in the application pending before the authorities. If the license has already been issued, you can increase the number by filing an application for an amendment or addition of numbers. In the meantime, you need not worry—you can engage the required number.

If you are a Principal Employer and employing 20 contract laborers directly, then there is no need for a license. However, a registration certificate has to be obtained compulsorily. If these laborers are employed through a contractor, then the contractor has to obtain a Labor License even though he is engaging 5 to 10 laborers presently.
