Mercury is the only metal in a liquid state. It has many advantages for the industrial as well as scientific sectors. However, the hazards arising from Hg are very dangerous. The real case of mercury exposure is explained here. Mercury exposure is due to CFLs, which we use in the house. Even though they are energy-saving bulbs, they have a negative impact because the surface is coated with mercury inside.
