My name is vishu, i am a HR of a international call centre . i am suppose to prepare the Induction n ppt..i want ask that what is the main difference between the induction n ppt.
i am confused that how to prepare the induction programme.
Kindly help me out.

Greetings!!!

PPT stands for power point presentation and you can make any presentation with the help of that. Probably, the management is asking you to prepare the PPT about the company as a whole, their organizational culture and the working enviornment.

An induction is a process of bringing new employees to the fold of company. Since the employee is new, it becomes your responsibility to make him/her aware about the company rules, procedures, culture and deliverable.You can make a ppt on induction comprising of following :

1. About company- Inception, Mission, Vision, Management, Presence
2. Business- Details about each vertical of the company, products/services, Offerings in pipeline
3. Rules:- Details about rules, procedures, discipline, working hours etc.
4. Employment:- Details about salary band, perks, bonuses, probation, promotions etc.
5. Deliverable:- What is required from employee, targets
6. Career growth:- Details about how can an employee grow in our organisation

The more you can include in induction, the better it is. Some organizations have very well planned induction program spread over weeks and including presentations, words from top management, activities and working experience with various units.

The list is indicative and you can modify as per your company's policies.

To add what Team GroupHR said, it woud be better if you first prepare an Induction Manual covering all the above + Do's and Don'ts - related to customer handling; Telephone Etiquettes; Dress Code and Personal hygiene etc, and then make a Ppt to be presented before the new inductees. You may also take help from each HoDs including the MD/ CEO/COO to address the new joiners, for about 10 minutes. This is feasible if you are adding people in mass and the induction is scheduled in a proper way. Getting an opportunity to have a face to face interaction with senior people at the joining time itself will make the new entrants more comfortable and there starts a feeling of 'caring' & 'important'. The first impression should always be the best about the organization and its management, especially the HR.

Hi,
Induction is basically a program to get the new employees familirize with the company. To achieve this you can use any tools available at your end.
Start with a list of areas as a new employee will need to know :
- Orgabization introduction - Hirearchy and organization chart
- Various Business functions, heads and locations.
- Vision , Mission and Objectives of the Organization
- If people are from one function only then there relationship with other functions
- Company policies / HR policies ( Office timings, leave, holidays, confirmation etc. )
You can either make a Power Point presentations with pictures , slides , clips about the organization and even invite a speaker to address then as part of the Inductions.
You can add a site visit if the group is small, to see the areas and meet senior people in the org.
Most depends on the nature of the group and their need to know of inforation, people and policies.

As an HR for an International call centre, one is expected to know more than just the difference between induction and a ppt.
Please do something about acquiring the knowledge and skills that is required to effectively and efficiently discharge the functions of an HR executive.

Dear Vishnu,
In my opinion by PPT you are indicating Pre Placement Talk. This is given to students when you embark on a campus recruitment drive. In a PPT you tell the students about your company, the business verticals your company is into, the employee strength, the business prospects, career prospects for new entrants, learning opportunities etc.
The induction is after the employee joins the organisation. In an induction programme you put the employee through different departments to enable him socialise with the employees of the organisation and learn the business process of the departments.

When some body says, "I am a HR in a co & aks the difference between PPT & Induction", I first get wild to imagine what kind of stuff are being prepared and how a company has appointed such persons as HR Executives.I guess he means he is an executive to take care of HR fuctions of a co.

I may ask does he know HR is Hai Ram or something else? If some one does not know Induction,is he really qualified to get a HR job?

I asked one HR Faculty about FWTayler and time and motion study. The lecturer in HRM who got 90% marks in his MBA degree could not say anything about basic fundamentals. His reply was, "we receive hand outs with questions and answers and may be our teachers also do not know as they do not read basic books" This is the state with many of our so called professionals.

I really thank the friends who are cool in replying such mails. It is comparable to one doctor from one famous northern state, I do not name it as many people know it who was searching the heart of a patient in the right side in a London hospital.

My advice-before mailing any queryi,please consult google in net. Put some effort not to create such annoying or laughing event. Atleast ask some friend in the profesion before using this site.

Dear Mr. Acharya,
I really appreciate your concern over the standard of our socalled B Schools which are producing a large number of MBAs every year. It has turned up purely as business to earn money so easily. How can we put a control over such institutes which are exploiting the students and their parents? The expectations of these students /parents will be high once they receive the stamp of MBA or PGDBM from these Management Institutes (?) irrespective of the fact that there is a gap between the Required versus Gained knowledge.

I appreciate and agree with your concern.
Some senior members have, at different threads, expressed their concerns and suggested remedies for the "employability" and "skill-gap"of alumni of such B-schools.
I shall be referring thie post to some of those emlightened and concerned members. Do participate in discussions (private or public) with them and spare some efforts and time in doing whatever little we can do in addressing these issues, as a responsible and helpful professionals.
