Dear Pooja,
Appreciating and motivating employee performance is a part of employee engagement. When we appreciate their performance, we satisfy their self-actualizing need partially. Appreciation gives them a sense of fulfillment. This helps them to engage with the organization.
Employee development includes planning their career, instituting a formal mentoring program in the company, training them for their current and future competency requirements, providing them with an education allowance, or offering them sabbatical leave so that they can pursue higher education, creating a job rotation plan, etc.
