We are working in the Shops and Establishments Act and the Industrial Employment Standing Orders Act is applicable to us. Since this year, the 15th of August is falling on Sunday, our weekly holiday. Should we declare a holiday on Monday in addition to Sunday, or is it not necessary? Please suggest.

Compensatory Holiday for National Holidays on Sundays
There is no legal obligation to give a compensatory holiday when a national holiday falls on a Sunday. This is because there are a number of establishments that have different weekly off days other than Sunday. At the same time, if the employer is willing, an additional festival holiday can be given for the year in which public holidays fall on a Sunday.
