Hi,

I want to know that during appraisals, do we see the score or the percentage? Suppose an employee gets 3.24 out of 5 as a score, and another gets 3.9 out of 5 on a 5-point rating scale. Then, is a score of 3.24 good for appraisal, considering the employee is a fresher? Please reply.

  • 5-point scales are interpreted differently. For some, 4-5 is excellent, while 3-3.9 is good, and 2-2.9 is mediocre, and so on.

In some places, 3.5-4.5 is considered good, and anything above this is excellent, while anything below is mediocre.

Please frame this range at your place and then compare the scores. Otherwise, if we calculate using rough approximations, 3.2 for a fresher is definitely a good indicator of performance. It is 60%.
