I am Sagar Joshi, working as a Sr. Executive – HR in a new setup Pharmaceutical Company. I am in the process of making the HR policy regarding the employee grading system (grades & designations) for a uniform, stable, and reasonable approach for all employees. I want to know how companies adopt different systems to grade their employees.

Anybody have any related draft copy of a policy or word format for a grade system that we can benefit from, please share it with me.

Please suggest improvements.

Regards,
Sagar

It would not be legal for an HR professional to share the Grading Policy document as it involves budgetary, legal, and business model-related decisions. Hence, I suggest the following:

Steps to Create a Grading Policy Document

Prepare a document based on your own ideas according to the situational requirements. Keep it vague initially to enhance your learning points.

Benchmark a company or a group of companies, perhaps your competitors or industry leaders in your vertical.

Then, start approaching seniors in your field to validate your document.

Involve extensive research in the process. Initially, you may not receive any inputs, so conceptualize and communicate.

I have attached links to certain documents for your reference:
