Hi all,

In my organization, we have an HR division and a training center separately. Now, my CEO wants to integrate the two units into the HR department. As a result, I have to draft the HR department with clear functions and responsibilities regarding recruitment, training, compensation and benefits, as well as HR information management or administrative activities. I don't have a good eye for this particular HR department.

Because of that, can anyone kindly help me to have a comprehensive picture of the full-fledged HR department and an HR department chart, both in general and in detail?

Thank you and best regards,
Yearning

Hi Srilatha,

I am now working in the HR division. Most of the activities we do are administrative in nature. Additionally, our training center mainly focuses on training for new employees before they join the organization. In other words, the center only conducts initial training. Therefore, we aim to establish an HR department properly and professionally. If you have any practical experiences, please help me solve this matter.

Thanks in advance.

Warm regards,
Yearning

Dear Yearning,

As you mentioned, if your company integrates both the HR and Training departments, you, as an HR professional, can focus on identifying training needs, scheduling training sessions, developing training plans, collecting feedback on the training conducted, and maintaining records of the entire training process.

I hope this message meets your requirements. Please let me know your thoughts on the same :)

Srilatha

Dear Srilatha,

Firstly, thank you for your advice. You have just discussed one of the duties in the training center.

The question that needs to be answered is how to establish the personnel department with full HR responsibilities and divide it into different teams responsible for separate functions of the HR department such as recruitment and selection, training and development, administration, benefits and compensation, performance management, and the study of HR policies and procedures.

Do you have a sample HR department chart showing its components and functions as mentioned above? It would be helpful if you are working in the HR department as you could give me the perfect idea about the structure of the HR department.

Best regards,
Yearning

Hi Yearning,

As per your email, I feel that you are integrating all the departments into one section. I hope I am not wrong. Probably, I can help you out with HR responsibilities interconnecting with the other departments. There are some core HR responsibilities like performance appraisal, competency management, employee satisfaction surveys, apart from recruitment, selection, training, and so on. Based on your style of implementation, you can allocate the same to different departments you are integrating.

One more thing, processing of HR activities differs from one company to another based on their business requirements. May I know which business your company is in, and what is the strength of the associates who are going to be integrated? I can help you more if the above information is furnished.

Hi Cite HR team, please help both of us here :)

Thanks and regards, Srilatha

Dear Srilatha,

We are going to be on the same page. You got me. In any kind of organization, we always have common basic HR responsibilities and activities to some extent.

My organization is in the banking industry. We have many branches and agents covering the whole country. Each of them has its own HR administrative office under the control of the Head Office. We want to have an HR department at the Head Office taking responsibilities and controlling all the HR activities in the whole organization with a managerial system of both decentralization and control.

I hope you and the other members of this site could help me understand this issue thoroughly.

Regards,
Yearning.
