Seeking Advice: How Do You Successfully Pitch Soft Skill Training to Corporates?

Adityaa
Anyone can help with the process on how to pitch to a corporate for soft skill training? What documents should be given? How do they judge to see if you're a fit or not, etc. I'm eager to learn from corporate training experts.

Dear Aditya,

Selection for corporate training

Selection for corporate training does not just happen based on the documents or brochures you submit. It also depends on how you carry yourself, your communication skills in general, and your choice of words in particular. You should be able to convince your client that you will connect well with your audience.

Recommendation: Work in the training department

Instead of working as a freelancer, I recommend you work in the training department. This transition in employment will greatly benefit you. While in the training department, consider hiring an external trainer. After each training program, take notes on the following points:

a) Their method of delivery and ability to engage the audience
b) Presentation skills and examples used to convey key points
c) Handling of questions or queries
d) Use of humor
e) Incorporation of games and simulations
f) Debriefing after games or simulations
g) Any other notable points

Invest in learning

Do not solely rely on external trainers hired by the company. When a training company hosts a public workshop, attend even if there is a fee involved; consider it an investment in your learning. Choose classroom sessions over online sessions when nominating yourself.

The success of the faculty in training depends on their ability to connect the training with the workplace, which is easier said than done.
