Dear Sir,

Here i would like to inform you that how come some companies exploiting human being and their feelings, which makes me feel very uncomfortable because i am from HR back ground from last 6 years and when i heard this news from one of my best friend.



One of my friend was looking for a job in BPO sector, some how he got to know that one placement agency hiring Technical Support Executives for Gurgaon based BPO firm.



he went there and after spending 2-3 hours idle one HR person came from Gurgaon for the interview process, they have taken couple of round like: telephonic round, one technical test, Essay writing, face to face HR interview and final operational round, my friend was so happy because he had cleared all the rounds and got selected.



my friend was too happy and he called me that he got the job, but we never expected that something will go wrong very soon.



he suppose to join on Monday, by 4PM a cab came to his place to pick him up to his new office which he was very keen to go.

after reaching office, he again asked to write an e-mail to his friend to tell him about his last holiday after reading that e-mail by HR, HR finally made their decision and gave him offer letter then HR had done his Joining formalities. on the same day of the induction, one of the the trainer again asked each and everyone to write an essay on Traffic Jam for about 200-300 words, the same trainer said that the process managers will judge them on the basis of there writing skills and that will cause eliminations too.

within coming 2 days, employee codes was given, Bank dockets were given, intra net accounts were opened, on 3rd day the trainer came and told everyone that he will be sending each and everyone individually to the process manager to get to know their writing skills and he will be telling you the final results. on the behalf of that result company will terminate the offer of the candidate.



and unfortunately, my friend and 3-4 more candidate's offer got terminated.



now after reading all above lines, here i have couple of questions in my mind :



1.) Why we are not making our interview process clear, if we need to terminate the candidate on the grounds of just an essay then why haven't checked or vetted down the essay on the very same day when interview was conducted.

2.) Why they(interviewers) haven't checked that essay seriously, which was written on the interview test. if they required that skill for the process.



3.) we are humiliating a human being, are we not???



4.) sometimes i feel, recruitment guys are just hiring for the sake of target completion no matter how.



5.) i never heard something like this...???

6.) why the HR people are not informed about the selection criteria for the process.



I m waiting for all the HR people to comment on this......

hi,

It is very often to have such news these days even couple of my friends and my sself have experienced the same type of situation.

I am also in HR the only funda of recruiters specially in BPO and IT is to complete there targets and fill the vacancies as the attrition rate is too high when compared.

Thus these are the day to day issues which can be heared these days.

The process which is written in many books is only for the academic purpose but in practical it is not.

Thus all the companies whether IT, BPO, Consultancy or Manufacturing have to make clarity in the selec tion process if they want to judge the candidate they can again interview him/her before giving them the appointment letter but people like you and me cannot make any changes until and unless the corporate world will undersatnd the situation.

It is the primary responsibility of the HR to lessen this type of situations.

a part froom this i does not have any solution to give you jst sharing my knowledge.....

i know everything whats happening in corporate level, but when somebody comes to you and say why you HR guys do this......now here i depressed and feel myself uncomfortable.....even though i am not from recruitment but every individual comes to me (who knows me) because i am from HR, and people like , as my friend feels that all these happened from HR end.....

Dear Rupendra Mehta,
This type of incident may happen 1 in 100. We cannot able to judge the employers situation. May at the time of recruitment they may need of candidates in 100's or 1000's. If they(employers) failed in getting business offers they have to do such things.
Recently, major IT companies sacked thousands of candidates from bench. We cannot say it is because of interview process. HR personnel is to recruit the candidates for the organization.
After getting business and doing recruitment drive will be in delay of delivering the projects or goods.
So don't worry tell your friend, that "everything which is happened is for good". Hope he will get nice job soon. All the best.
This is not a problem of HR or Recruitment process. It is because of business.

1.Get the Termination Letter and leave
2.Ask and contact the higher Authorities...Seek an Answerh and Try to change the rules.....IF you don't that ..Any one can fool you HR's,Credit Card companies,Govt Employees..Once's,who fall in this trap of listening..will keep on listening..... ASK !! ( for that you have be confident to...ask for your rights ) ....
Process( Hiring ) ,Rules,Policies.....Are made for us..It is we, who accept it...If we don't accept it,we Change it... :)

even i faced this kind of situation from an hr departmetn only which was a consultancy and your friend was being termianted on the essay writing only but i was being put onhold for three months where in i cannot join any company if a better opportunity comes to me because of the offer letter and servie agreemnt and after they told me somehow you are not a fit in our orgn becasue your personality does suit the hr recruiter profile actually. such a perosanl comment. i spent sleepness nights to thnk about my self. i told them in a face to face discussion that i know the meaning of working in a corporate, as i have two years of exp in a capacity of asst coordintor prior to my mba and i know the perosnality types, how can you say such a thing. atleast you should think tweice before commetning on a cadidate... but she ended the discussion by saying being confient baout yourself is good but being over confidents will somebody ruin you if you will be like this for the rest of your life.. you may leave.......

and i was like speechless. so this is the real situation. we share lot of stuff realeted to right attitude, work life balance, emotions, careing for employees and all taht at this cite only.... but this is my staring of the career and somehow even i am very sad to learn and exp all this. but you really can not espcae from it even.

so my best wishes to your friend and i would just say that a beeter opportunity msut be awaiting for him. and i would also request all the hr professionals to be slightly fair while recruiting or interviewing peole. god has made everybody different so every body is special on this planet. handle peopel with care. if they are not a best fit in your orgn that does not mean they are not capable of anywhere.

I understand the feelings
I also read a comment by Mr Saravanan saying it is not HR problem and it is business problem
Sending out people on bench ( in manufacturing it is called retrenchment) is a business issue
Recruiting a person as per defined process steps is HR issue
Here what is being discussed is the Recruitment Process
The described Recruitment Process is absolute thrash
You must send a mail on this subject to the CEO of the Company an d I am sure corrective action will be taken
When you send a letter to the CEO mark a copy to the concerned Recruiters

yes friend what u said is write their is a gap that has to bridge...
proper co-ordination should be done. JUST IN TIME has to be applied.
