I am writing this for a friend, who is going to join his previous employer soon. He is currently working with JP Morgan from last three years. He got an offer from his previous employer which seemed okay to him so he agreed. He was waiting for a formal offer letter (he only received a proposed salary structure, which he accepted), while his going to be boss started asking him to drop his papers, as he wanted to speed up the process.
My friend dropped the papers, and after a few days, got a call from the HR that the background check will take 2-4 weeks. My friend is anxious as it's almost 2 weeks now and the offer letter hasn't come. I wanted to know if they will take the same time to do the background check as they take for someone completely new to the organization. Please assist.

Friend should have waited before putting up his papers. Tell the manager concerned to hasten up the process of BGV.
