Introduction of Aadhaar-based e-Sign by EPFO

As per the EPFO circular dated 6th October 2017, EPFO has introduced the free Aadhaar-based e-Sign in addition to the DSC for use by employers. It is very easy to use compared to the DSC. Authorized signatories of establishments whose DSC is already registered can directly activate their e-Sign by providing Aadhaar at the Unified Portal. Authorized signatories whose DSC is not available at the Unified Portal can register their e-Sign at the Unified Portal and get it approved from the concerned EPFO field office. Once the authorized signatory is registered for e-Sign, he/she can sign documents by receiving an OTP on the mobile registered with Aadhaar. The user manual for registering e-Sign is attached herewith for your ready reference. It is requested to encourage employers to avail themselves of this facility. Furthermore, EPFO has urged the respective branch offices to immediately approve the e-Sign registration requests received from employers.
