Hello, I work in HR within the hospitality industry. In our hotel, there are three shifts: morning, evening, and night. I would like to know how many compensatory offs would be considered if an employee works on their day off and covers the morning, evening, and night shifts.

Please ensure that no employee works for consecutive 3 shifts; it is not morally correct to ask an employee to work that way.
It will be legally correct to say that he should be paid overtime wages for 4 shifts (3 worked + 1 off day). If you follow a compensatory time-off (comp off) practice for such working (which is not legally correct to do so), then he should be given 4 comp-offs.

Dear Sir,
Please clarify the following points:
a) Why was the employee called for 3 shifts in a day?
b) Who called him?
c) What does your company's shift policy say?
This is for your information that if someone is being called in for extra work on their off days, they should be given compensatory time off for any leave taken later.
I also suggest that you be clear in drafting and executing company policies as they help both you and the employees in having a common understanding and also in calculating compensatory time off.
I hope this information is helpful.
